Crystal Park Christmas Cards
The Historical Committee is offering Crystal Park Christmas cards for sale again this year.  We listened to members and have created a card for this season that has a prettier and more traditional look than last year.  The card features an edited photo taken by Floyd O'Neil - the view is Dayspring View looking west up Ute Pass.  The cards cost a little more to produce than last year's edition, so the requested donation is $12 for a pack of 10 cards and envelopes.  You can get them at the office or the gatehouse beginning October 30.  Remember, all proceeds go toward Historical Committee projects.  Thanks for your help with financing our efforts; it's greatly appreciated!

Jim Cather Park
On Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, following the CPVFD Pancake Breakfast, an informal ceremony was held to dedicate an area southwest of the lake as "Jim Cather Park".  Jim has spent hundreds of hours over the past year clearing brush and trees in this area to reduce fuels in the vicinity of the soon-to-be-built multi-purpose building.  The result is a beautiful park area of aspen trees.  Members of the Historical Committee have built a bridge over the stream that enters the lake near the clubhouse and have built chip covered paths through this area.  A number of picnic tables have been ordered.  Additional paths and another bridge will be completed soon so Members can walk through the park from the clubhouse to the volleyball and tennis courts.  As seen in the photos below, two signs have been placed at entrances to the area designating it as "Jim Cather Park".  Thanks to Jim for all his hard work.  We hope that Park Members will enjoy using this area.

Thinning & Forestry Volunteer Work Reports
The Forestry Committee is in the process of coordinating the thinning of trees and brush around homes in Crystal Park to help with fire mitigation. If you need help in this, please place a request with the Forestry Committee for work around your home. Indicate what you have done so far and what you need help with. Send requests to Lou Pappas at lou@pappasdavis.com or drop off written requests at the office.

Forestry Volunteer Work Report forms can be found in the lobby of the Crystal Park office or through this link. Please fill out these forms and turn them into the office anytime you as a member are doing thinning and fire mitigation around your own home.

Crystal Park Home Owners Association must keep track of these volunteer hours to help toward applying for grant money. Additionally, these forms are used and filled out when working on projects under the auspice of the Forestry Department.

Thanks for your cooperation!
